'gh' is for ghost

The 'h' is silent in ghost.

This ghost is more gorgeous than ghoulish!

If I had a sailboat...

The children in Room 12 decided they would like to make a sailboat after reading a recent picture book.
Ms Anderson found some old banana boxes at her house and they quickly became transformed into sailing creations.

Our imaginations took off and we decided to write an imaginative story to entertain each other and any visitors who popped into Room 12.

We used strong verbs and adjectives to paint a picture in the reader's mind and then proof-read our writing carefully using the checklist.
After we'd fixed up our writing to ensure the reader could read it, we published it with our best printing onto a page for our class book.
Then we joined eachother in and had a wonderful time sailing and enjoying the waves in Room 12.

Our gold medals

Clay was used to make medals.
We needed to squash it down and roll it out to make it soft.

We used rolling pins and playdough cutting tools to shape and decorate the clay.

There were lots of different designs.

Once the clay was dry we painted them with gold paint and glitter paint.
We showed them off at our Junior Assembly and to the New Zealand gold medalists who drove past.

 We were 'gold medal' cooperators!

Japanese Calligraphy

Sage's Mum came to Room 12 and showed us how to do Japanese calligraphy on Thursday.

We stood up straight and bowed at the end
of the session and said 'domo arigato gozaimasu' (thank you).

Decorating Room 12's letterbox

Today's technology monitor took the following photos of people decorating our classroom's letterbox and writing postcards and letters to their friends.

Thank you Bryson for the wonderful photos!
