If I had a sailboat...

The children in Room 12 decided they would like to make a sailboat after reading a recent picture book.
Ms Anderson found some old banana boxes at her house and they quickly became transformed into sailing creations.

Our imaginations took off and we decided to write an imaginative story to entertain each other and any visitors who popped into Room 12.

We used strong verbs and adjectives to paint a picture in the reader's mind and then proof-read our writing carefully using the checklist.
After we'd fixed up our writing to ensure the reader could read it, we published it with our best printing onto a page for our class book.
Then we joined eachother in and had a wonderful time sailing and enjoying the waves in Room 12.

Station security tags

Today we used 'station tags' to keep our work safe while we went to the jellybean table to do our group work with the teacher.
We wear them around our necks and then take them off and put them on our station work to keep it safe.
We do not touch anything that has someone's security tag on it.

Encouraging words and Perseverance

In Room 12 we've been learning to use encouraging words to help people persevere and feel happy.
What might it sound like or look like?
"Keep trying"
"Try your best"!
"You can do it"!
"Go go go"
"Yay"
"Good job"
People clap
People cheer
Thumbs up
People wave flags for their country team at the Olympics.

We are a team. Let's encourage each other!

We made streamers to cheer people on at our Olympics day.
Some people used  their house team colours and some people wanted to encourage everyone so used all the colours.

 Children practised cheering people
on as they tried
their best at
the straw
javelin event.

Helping others

Room 12 was bustling with excitment this morning as children discovered that the classroom had been transformed by hanging fabrics. We needed to move around the classroom safely to help everyone to stay safe.

Children helped each other to create
creative spaces.

A shower was created.

"Can you please help me with the
 marble game?"

"Would you like some help with the
puzzle?

The girls helped to make a porcupine family.

The girls helped each other to put on
a puppet show.
