Stepping out - road safety

Constable Miary came to Room 12 today and talked to us about keeping safe when walking on the footpath and when crossing roads.
We went out for a walk and stayed on the fence-side of the footpath.
We stopped at each driveway and looked up the driveway for a car coming out, and out to the road for any cars that might be turning in.

We also practised checking both left and right for any cars before crossing the road. We check for cars by looking with our eyes and listening with our ears
We always need to hold an adult's hand when we cross the road to stay safe. They are taller and can get a better view over the tops of parked cars.
Thank you Constable Miary and thank you also to Bailey's dad for helping us.
